WOODLAND PERIOD RESEARCH

Our recent research has been able to better understand Woodland period lifestyles in the Chesapeake Bay region. A piece of woven 2,300 year-old fabric was found attached to a piece of copper-stained human bone from the Frederica site (7K-F-2). Isotopic analysis of the bone from this site shows that the people buried in this prehistoric cemetery were eating marine and estuarine fish and shellfish.
